Our Process
Access & Preparation
We remove ancillary components – air intake, drive belts, and the harmonic balancer. The crankshaft is immobilised using a holding tool to allow removal of the balancer.[reference:6] The front timing cover is then removed to expose the timing chain drive.
Component Removal
We release tension on the timing chains, then remove the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets.[reference:7] The existing chains, tensioners, and guide rails are removed and inspected.
Chain & Component Replacement
New timing chains, tensioners, and guide rails are installed. Timing Alignment
Using specialist timing tools – camshaft alignment tools (OEM 303‑1445), crankshaft timing pin (OEM 303‑1447), flywheel locking tool (OEM 303‑1448), and timing chain pre‑tensioning tool (OEM 303‑1482) – we set the camshaft and crankshaft to the correct positions.[reference:10] The upper timing chain tensioner bolt is torqued to approximately 55 Nm to ensure proper chain preload and timing accuracy.[reference:11]
Reassembly & Testing
