What This Service Involves
We identify the specific gasket or seal requiring replacement, drain the engine oil where relevant, and remove components obstructing access — including engine covers, intake manifolds, exhaust components, and in some cases subframe, suspension parts, or exhaust pipes.
Once access is achieved, we remove the old gasket or seal using scrapers and appropriate tools. The mating surfaces — both the component and the engine block sealing surfaces — are thoroughly cleaned using metal surface cleaner meeting Jaguar specification. Surface preparation is critical to ensure a proper seal.
We install the new gasket or seal. For some applications, we apply a specific sealant pattern — for example, a 10 mm dot of silicone gasket sealant meeting Jaguar specification applied to the engine block and front cover mating surface. For cylinder head rear cover gaskets, the sealing bead must face the cylinder head surface and no additional sealant is used.
Components are reassembled with bolts torqued to manufacturer specifications in the correct sequence. The engine oil is refilled (where drained), and the engine is run to check for leaks around the repaired area.
